St. Simons Island

April 2007

This year the obligatory puzzle was no wimpy 250 or 500 pc job.  There were 1000 pieces to this baby and it kept the two sisters busy for about half of the week.
These gigantic live oak trees are pretty impressive. I wonder how old this one is?

The red brick building is primarily a visitor's information center now, but because it is still called the Casino, I think it had a more illustrious background in years past.

We were about a city block from the ocean beach and the entry to the Brunswick ship canal. Lots of interesting traffic while we were there.

It was high tide when this photo was taken, but at low tide, the beach is wide and packed hard. Fine for bicycle riding.

Highway 17  bridge over the ship canal.
We rented one of the four apartments here on the corner of Oglethorpe Avenue and Demere Rd, about four or five blocks from the village (downtown). (Map)

There was no Internet access was available at the apartment, but it was at the Palm Coast Coffee Shop a few blocks away.  I drank a lot of coffee that week.
