I traded my GS-850 Suzuki on a '92 Harley-Davidson "Ultra-Classic" in September '91 This photo was taken on the first lengthy trip with the new bike - a July 1992 trip through New England and Eastern Canada.

Jeff Pierce and Barry Ornitz at the Shelby NC Hamfest ("Grandaddy of 'em all"), Labor Day weekend.

The blue tarp and screen tent area in the background was the TI and Eastman ham club's "booth".  The Shelby event was so popular, it was necessary to go there the weekend before to claim your booth area with ropes, stakes, and signs - at least if you wanted to be set up right in the thick of things.  Jeff's bike and my green tent are also in the background.

Ed Ganger manning the booth - with help.

The York, PA Harley-Davidson factory has an open house every September - Tours of the assembly line are available and the is the only time photographs are allowed.

When I returned in Sep 19xx  I took many more photographs, which will be added to this Photoweb at a later date.

Junaluska at right: Peter Wolf Toth left a statue similar to this one in every state.  Some got more than one.  He left this one in Johnson City.

David built these shelves in the garage attic for me as a birthday present.

I subscribed to quite a few electronics and motorcycle magazines at the time and liked to keep back issues until they were at least 8-10 years old - so the organization that the shelves afforded was much appreciated.

This was my library and I spent many hours up there reviewing back issues or looking for a particular article.
